This paper evaluates the effectiveness of an intervention meant to expand treatment for adoles- cents with mental illness in Malawi and Tanzania. The researchers developed radio programs addressing mental health for youth and provided training on mental disorders for educators and healthcare workers in Malawi and Tanzania. At a cost of CA$2.7 million, the program treated over 1,000 adolescents for depression and other mental illness.
